Our Story

Our founder, Kevin Herbert, starts the company.

Kevin has spent 30 years in health & beauty as a medical physicist, project engineer and patent counsel across the UK, Germany, USA and China, helping launch many great products during that time. UPGRAD’D Labs was born from the realisation that so much more could be done to solve people’s needs by focusing on the customer journey, rather than products alone.

We introduced our first product, which was also a world first - a blue light acne routine which combined phototherapy with skincare and nutrition

When we develop our products, we always start at the customer and work backwards (rather than developing technology and trying to make it fit the customer). This makes our products directly relevant to customers who buy them – in essence, for any given skin challenge someone is faced with they are the poster person for that solution.

We moved our operation from our founder's kitchen to our first ever HQ in the grounds of a Tudor mansion once frequented by Henry VIII

We included patch test kits with all our products so that every customer could try our products and return them for free if their skin wasn't happy

In skincare we’re always told to ‘patch test first’, but other manufacturers fail to provide kits, meaning customers have to open the product to patch test. If a reaction occurs, the opened product can’t always be returned. This creates waste and frustration. Our patch test promise allows users to try a small sample on their skin before opening the full product.

We updated our packaging to ensure every product is either refillable, recyclable or returnable.

We create products for our customer’s journey - we don’t just sell-and-forget bottles in boxes. Each pack allows for patch testing, product use and refill, recycling or return for re-use. We make it easier for users to ‘do the right thing’ - for their skin and the planet.

Embracing Diversity: Our Stand with LGBTQIA+

At UPGRAD'D® Labs, we want to help build a more empowered world. Happiness doesn't start and stop at the skin barrier, and neither our responsibilities. We stand and support the LGBTQIA+ community. We support and supported the Trans Community and Trans Charities, like Mermaids, and equally we believe that everyone, without exception should have the opportunity to live the life they want and deserve. We continue to support the LGBTQIA+ community, both now and forever!

We introduced Regenesis, another world first which combined red light anti-ageing which acoustic wave treatments, alongside skincare and nutrition

Our innovative skintech improves the customer journey. By combining light and sound, Regenesis enhances the effects of our anti aging serums. To achieve great skin, we integrate tech, skincare and nutrition, because our skin is part of the mind-gut-skin axis. Patents filed: GB2112672.7 for skin condition diagnosis and treatment, GB2117181.4 for Thermobioactive treatment apparatus.
